‘Chaos in the Valley’

Chaos in the Valley Demolition Derby - Woodstock VA (2017)

Demolition Derbies can be dangerous, although critical injuries are not frequent. In the muddy track, all drivers deliberately ram each others vehicles until only one of them is left operational. The resulting winner is awarded with a cash price. All glass is removed from the cars and other modifications are applied to the participating vehicles to make them as safe as possible.

Shenandoah Valley, in Virginia, hosts three derbies a year, all organized by the Toms Brook Fire Department. The biggest of them is held on October, when hundreds of participants crash their cars into other cars for hours until late night at an event they call ‘Chaos in the Valley’.
